Advocacy through art.
The #dedoc° Silent Auction
artist in residence
Since 2024, #dedoc° Artist in Residence Taylor Appleton Lawrence has donated several pieces of original artwork to the #dedoc° Silent Auctions to honor diabetes associations that have welcomed the presence of our #dedoc° voices - such as EASD, ISPAD, ADA and IDF.
This year, we celebrate the first-ever Global Summit to End Diabetes Stigma, taking place in Jaipur, India in March 2026. The Global Summit is a pivotal event bringing together people with lived experience, global leaders, researchers, healthcare professionals and advocates to enable the co-creation of a global roadmap to #EndDiabetesStigma.
The Path to end stigma
Ever since the creation of the sunflower lanyard, initially created by Gatwick Airport to assist travelers with non-visible conditions, the sunflower has become a worldwide symbol for stigma-free support to people affected by chronic conditions such as diabetes.
THE PATH TO END STIGMA was revealed at ATTD Barcelona during the #dedoc° symposium, and will be on show at the Global Summit in Jaipur, India. Bids can be placed online until Sunday, 29 March 2026, 12:00 (noon) CEST. The winner will be announced at the Closing Ceremony of the Summit, and #dedoc° will facilitate international shipping.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
Appleton will also create original street art inspired by THE PATH TO END STIGMA outside the conference venue in Jaipur, India. Summit participants will sign it on-site - and we will ADD YOUR NAME!
Join the movement, make a donation and let others know! Appleton's work will remain a powerful reminder of a global community having come together to end diabetes stigma - and you will receive pictures and social media posts and are invited to zoom in, spot your name and share that you support the fight to #EndDiabetesStigma!
All profits from the #dedoc° Silent Auction and this fundraiser will support a community-led project born at Global Summit.
