#dedoc° voices at easd

Where diabetes research meets real life

The EASD Annual Meeting brings together researchers, healthcare professionals and the wider diabetes community to share new evidence, challenge existing thinking and explore what comes next in diabetes care.

#dedoc° brings lived experience into that exchange connecting the science being presented with what diabetes looks and feels like beyond the abstract.

Thank you

We would like to thank the European Association for the Study of Diabetes for welcoming the #dedoc° voices to its Annual Meeting, as well as our partners for helping make participation through the #dedoc° voices scholarship program possible.

WHY EASD MATTERS

Behind every data point is a life being lived

Research helps us understand what is changing in diabetes care from new treatments and technologies to prevention, complications, clinical practice and health outcomes.

Lived experience adds another layer. It shows how those advances translate into everyday decisions, relationships, access, quality of life and very different healthcare realities.

At EASD, #dedoc° voices learn directly from the science while bringing those realities back into the conversation.

2020

Opening the doors virtually

2020 marked the first #dedoc° voices scholarship at EASD. On invitation from EASD, #dedoc° enabled 40 diabetes advocates from 16 countries to attend the Annual Meeting virtually, creating access to one of the world's major scientific diabetes meetings at a time when conferences themselves were rapidly changing.

2022

Stockholm

In 2022, #dedoc° voices from 24 countries joined EASD, with 21 advocates attending in person and another 24 participating virtually.

It also marked an important milestone for lived experience at the conference.

For the first time, #dedoc° was invited to become part of the official EASD programme with its symposium.

The session shifted the traditional conference dynamic by placing people living with diabetes on stage, speaking directly to researchers, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
